CSI airs on CBS, though it was first brought to ABC. ABC turned the show down because they felt it was too confusing (oops!). Now, CSI is one of the most popular shows on television, and it's 2004-5 season finale was one of the most watched shows ever (it was directed by Quentin Tarantino, who directed films like Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill). CSI averages about 30 million viewers every week.
The CSI show broke a record when Spike TV agreed to pay $1.6 million per episode to place it in syndication.
The television show's popularity has spurred multiple spin-offs, CSI NY and CSI Miami.
